exactly are online lessons?

An online lesson is essentially a “normal” lesson, but with additional advantages. As with all my personalised training courses, you will benefit from:

• • Tailored content
  • Ability to progress at your pace / rhythm
  • Fun – games, activities

Possibility of individual or shared lessons (with common interests/goals) and in addition, you will have the following benefits afforded by the online environment:

• • Flexibility of both the “where” (you can be at home, or in a hotel room, or anywhere) and the “when” (the lesson time can even vary from week to week) without you having to take time out to travel, or, if you’re a parent, without having driving your child to and from their lesson.
  • Opportunity to work on pronunciation, due to closer proximity to your teacher than would normally be the case in a face-to-face lesson, thus making it easier to observe my mouth and mimic the sounds.
  • Plethora of excellent digital resources quite literally at our fingertips.
  • Ability to be more active in the learning process – sharing your own resources to work on with me – as well as being able to more readily access my content.
  • Possibility to take control of my keyboard and mouse to practise exercises or engage with interactive activities.
  • On-screen support via a digital whiteboard, where I type words / phrases as you
    speak – all of which is saved at the end of the lesson and sent to you.

Please note that, should you live nearby at least some of the time, perhaps in your own holiday accommodation, and would prefer to have all or some of your lessons face-to-face, that is absolutely possible. 

does an online lesson work?

WITH ZOOM

I generally use Zoom but if you have a preference for another platform, I am happy to accommodate you.

In essence, it’s very simple. You receive an invitation from me to which you’ll respond. You will then meet me in the online environment, just like you would in a traditional classroom. During the lesson I will use a variety of resources and pedagogical methods to enhance your online learning, and help you practise all 4 of the language skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading).

Just like with any regular lesson, we will have a discussion before you begin about your objectives – what you need to learn and why – on the basis of which I will prepare your personalised training programme. However, I am aware these needs can change during the process of your training, and am always happy to change tack mid-flow.
